The fertile and largest island of the Cyclades is full of olive trees. The people of Naxos Island have always taken special care of the valuable fruit of the olive tree. It is estimated that more than 270.000 olive trees grow on Naxos, most of which are located in the valley of Tragaia. In our days, old and new olive mills in various villages of the island allow visitors to watch the olive oil production process. This traditional process is part of a festivity, taking place every year at the village Damalas, from the end of January until the beginning of February. Everyone is welcome to join the festivities, taste local delicacies and listen to traditional music. Naxos invites you to take a look at this traditional production process and taste its amazing natural products!
