The Fanis Gavalas Festival is an annual event held either in the beginning of July or at the end of August.
It usually involves all-night dancing to live traditional island music, theatrical performances, concerts and traditional games.
This year it takes place on August 27 and August 28.
The program is as follows:
Thursday 27/8
Traditional team game (similar to bowling) called “Bilies.”
Friday 28/08

Early morning trek (approximately 1 to 1.5 hours from Panagia) to Agios Ioannis Cave to participate in an all-day event that includes a picnic outside the cave and the placing of candles inside in preparation for the afternoon vespers.
Note: Transport will be available to the village of Panagia from the port Agios Georgios beginnig at 8:30 am.
19:30 – Traditional team game (similar to bowling) “Bilies” finals.
21:30- Traditional island fete with song and dance.
Entrance free. Location: Central Square at Agios Georgios.
Saturday 30/08 (21:30)
Island fete with music by the popular Nick Economides and Kiriaki Spanou.
Also: Throughout the festival a traditional team game (similar to bowling) called “Bilies” will take place.
