A big feast takes place on the Day of the Assumption of the Virgin (Panagia) in Stavros on August 15, when the local church celebrates.
The event, which takes place at the port and attracts pilgrims from the nearby Small Cyclades, includes food and dancing to the tune of live music till the early morning hours. August 15 is Greece’s second most important religious holiday after Easter.
