The church of Ai Giannis (St. John) –- Apiranthos’s patron saint- – celebrates annually on August 29.
People from the island venture out, both for the church service and the feasting that follows at the village square, beginning on the eve of the event and continuing into the actual day, all to the sound of traditional music.
