A Geometrical era (9th-8th century BC) cemetery has been discovered at Alonakia position, at the SE foot of Apano Kastro hill.
The finds in the circular tombs, which included pottery, golden jewelry, lances and burned fruit, are exhibited at the Naxos Archaeological Museum in Chora.
At the same location there is an ancient, 3m upright stone monument (menir), considered unique in SE Europe.
