To commemorate the Assumption of Virgin Mary on August 15, an annual traditional celebration is held at Panagia village, outside the Church of the Entrance of Virgin Mary into the Temple after service. Food, wine and sweets are offered to all. Further celebrations, to the sound of traditional music, usually follow at one of the island’s tavernas.
