On September 14, Day of Timios Stavros (Holy Cross) –the patron of the island, pilgrims from Donoussa and nearby islands come with offerings and big candles to pay their respects to the icon, which is considered miraculous.
In the afternoon on the eve (Sept. 13) a mass is held in the courtyard of the church and pilgrims are offered the blessed bread, the traditional dish of goat with potatoes (patatato) and wine. Feasting, with live music and traditional dance follows.
